Podcast 295 – 5 Things To Do Daily That Will Transform the Learning Landscape… That Have Nothing To Do with Academics

Education is for improving the lives of others and for leaving your community and world better than you found it.

Marian Wright Edelman

mark_vector_1400x1400In today’s PERMIE KIDs podcast I share 5 things to do daily that will transform the learning landscape. Hint: they have nothing to do with academics (and yet everything to do with it).

By the way, did you know we have a weekly challenge for your permie going on?

I sure hope your kids aren’t feeling bored this summer, but if they are you are in luck. Each week between now and October 3rd we’ve got a challenge for your permie kids. Why October 3rd?

Saturday, October 3rd is the annual GLOBAL Cardboard Challenge event presented by Imagination Foundation. Here at PERMIE KIDs, we encourage you to challenge your permie kids to design and build anything they can dream up using cardboard, recycled materials, and imagination. Send an email, pictures and videos to jen@permiekids.com. In celebration and in partnership with the Imagination Foundation we will post a compilation video showing the innovation, playfulness, and creativity of our young designers for all to enjoy. Check out some of the fun creations from last year.

What is the challenge this week?

Build a cardboard boat, take it out in a stream, pool or lake and test it.

Join the email list below to hear next week’s challenge!

If you enjoy this podcast and think to yourself, “Yeah, I’d be interested in buying Jen a cup of coffee while hanging out talking about issues like this,” consider joining our community. For about the price of a cup of coffee, you can become a member. The solution, the only ethical solution, is to take responsibility for ourselves and our children, to paraphrase Bill Mollison. Taking responsibility in learning and life begins within and spirals out to the world around us. It means valuing each individual, recognizing intrinsic worth, and trusting that we each can find and forge our own path that nourishes life, in our own time and in our own way.

You have knowledge, skills, and experiences right now that are of value. If you have gifts and passions that you want to share through a work-share-learn exchange, that is not only welcomed but encouraged. Together, we can network and support each other in our individual and community journeys. Become part of the solution. Empower the educator within and let’s work with our children to make this world a better place.

In this show I cover:
